The Lottbridge GC. Seniors Section Friendly Match v Horam Park GC. Tuesday 22nd August When your Team is beaten 5-1 there is not a lot to say, Seniors Captain, Richard Harris, gave a brave speech, full of praise for Horam’s endeavours and he reluctantly handed the ‘Best of Two’ trophy back to Horam’s Captain, Ken Goddard. Ken, in reply. praised the Lottbridge for their friendly and sporting behaviour in defeat and was full of praise for the Lunch which followed, in fact, he spoke more about the Lunch than he had about the Match, it was that sort of Day!!.The lunch was prepared and served by Mike, of Dizzy Piggy Catering, Stella and crew. ( I don’t think Derek was very impressed with his Vegy LOL)  I suppose it would be a bit cruel to publish the Full Match Breakdown, but, in the interests of honesty and truthfulness, I must!! Captain Richard Harris and Geoff Summerfield lost 3&2. Dave Roberts and Tony Berry lost 4&3. Steve Taylor and Jim Woolley lost one down. JJ Garbo and Geoff Rowlands lost 3&2. Our only winning pair, Dave Wright and Ken Dorgan won 2 up and our last pair, Geoff Fordham and Cliff O’Brien lost 2&1 In the 18 Hole Stableford which preceded the Match, Alf ‘Panzer’ Beney made a determined assault on the ‘Course. He attacked, and overcame, four Bridges and swam across three rivers, well, his ball did. He drove his Tank, I mean Driver, with grit and determination and amassed 46 points to conquer the 18 holes that is the Lottbridge. Keith ‘Smokey’ Body was second with 44. Steve Lynch returned 43 and Owen Logue returned 42, these have all been posted in the ‘Chopping Box’.  Nearest the Pins, On the 2nd/11th: was Richard Ellis. Miguel Puga won both the 6th/15th and the 9th/18th:.. Great news. We have two willing and more than able volunteers. Ex Club Captain, Martin Healy, has agreed to carry on as Vice-Captain for the rest of the Season, with the view to becoming Captain 2017/18 and ever popular, Wayne Funnel, has agreed to be co-opted to the Committee with the view to volunteering as Vice-Captain for 2017/18.
